by Julla Kroner
During her residency at Market Groseria, Julla Kroner developed a work that opened the performative part of the Grand Finale. With thorough research about and in Stolec, she brought a humorous and multifaceted performance to the stage. This allowed the audience, including the inhabitants of Stolec, to rediscover a story about a place they know. Through visual elements projected during the performance, the artist opened up a new perspective on places and beings in Stolec from her point of view.
“The three sisters performance originated from research in Stolec into the three sisters' myth. They are always described as one with brown hair, one with yellow hair and one with black hair. While I was taking my daily walks through Stolec, I dreamed myself into the three levels of the sisters and was able to incorporate the magic of the place into the story. The performance is in three languages and something different happens in each translation. The sisters are looking for each other but cannot find each other because of the linguistic separation. They are lost in different time levels, which was made clear by Kolja Kraft's music. It needs an in-between that develops a new language that no one understands and can thus become one”, says the artist, describing her work.
