Singing and Soup

Singing and cooking together, sharing a song and a soup. Students and teachers from the village school in Wallmow and the school in Rzędziny came to the store and gathered for a moment, for a few hours, on the stage of liquid stone to the left of the store. This meeting point became a place for communal singing. Together with the artist Klara Gmiter and the group from Zaytun, songs were learned and sung in German, Polish, and French. They got to know each other beforehand through interactive exercises, and musical connections were formed through the communal singing. After a while, the group split up, and while songs were still being sung, some started making a fire and cutting vegetables to prepare the soup near the singing group. The soup was to be cooked over the fire and was meant for anyone who wanted some—soup for the students and artists, and soup for the village.

After the songs were sung, the students and teachers were invited to visit the installation work by Klara Gmiter inside the store and share what they had seen with the artist. Then there was a common meal, and afterward, the young visitors said their goodbyes, and even the last bit of soup was eaten.

In the midst of the stone sculpture from the scenography of the performance Stony Fragments the students challenged the fragile stone sculpture with their active participation and enlivened the Market Groseria. They created a moment of exchange between two groups of young people, one from Germany, one from Poland, and a third group of international artists who now met in the store. Through the practice of singing and cooking, they could observe contrasts and similarities, and, similar to the movements and stones, they formed the fragility of the dialogue culture.
