The two-day zine creation workshop led by Marcel Tadeusz Jarocki was centered around the theme “The Beauty of Ruins, The Charm of What’s Unsaid.” Market Groseria transformed into a creative space free from limitations, prohibitions, and instructions. Through the creation of zines – low-budget booklets-magazines – workshop participants delved into themes of forgetfulness, memories, the inevitability and destructiveness of time, as well as its charm. Thanks to the unique and flexible medium of zines, the participants were not restricted in their choice of materials and tools for creating their small artistic books. They followed their intuition, and sometimes also rediscovered or awakened forgotten artistic instincts.

On the first day, participants listened to a brief history of zines while enjoying coffee, tea, and snacks. Then they proceeded to create their books, filling them with what was forgotten but beautiful to them. Around a large table, they exchanged ideas, inspired each other, and for a moment stopped listening to their inner artistic critics.

On the second day, participants, already familiar with the concept of zines, created one large page each. This time, they explored the theme even deeper, as each page would later become part of a larger artistic book. The finished zine was then displayed in the Market Groseria space, alongside the mini-zines created on the first day of the workshop.

On the third and final day, a workshop for children took place. The youngest residents of Stolec also learned what zines are and the concept behind them. Under the guidance of Marcel and Luiza Supernak, the young artists explored the concept of texture – what it is and what role it plays in art and the world around us. They experimented with different materials, searching for ways to achieve various textures in their books. The outcomes were stunning – the young creators were unafraid to experiment, and the effects of their work brought unexpected and impressive results.
