Lady in white

by Ola Supernak and Kolja Kraft

Many myths and stories give places their meanings, make people shudder, and often make them think. As part of the "Market Groseria" project, Kolja Kraft and Ola Supernak took on the tale of the Lady in White (Biała Dama) from Stołec and reinterpreted it. The surroundings of Stolec, as well as the nighttime setting in the context of the horror inherent in the tale, provide the fertile ground for the interpretative framework that spreads in the viewer's mind.

Kolja Kraft and Ola Supernak developed a storyline over a series of days through conversations with villagers and research, which they then turned into a script through their own efforts. Through the impressions gained from the surroundings and knowledge of the artist Ola Supernak, who grew up in Stolec, both selected the possible filming locations. The actors were quickly found: Marcel Taduesz Jarocki & Katarzyna Kupiec. Both, like Ola Supernak and Kolja Kraft, became integral members of the main team through the "Market Groseria" project and were quickly enthusiastic about the short film idea. The costumes were partly created from Ola Supernak's own clothing collection as well as by Julia Hałas. Overall, the filming took 2 days.

The soundtrack of the short film was created by Kolja Kraft, who worked with sounds from the surroundings of the filming locations as well as the actors' direct words and screams. Ola Supernak took care of the editing as well as the previous directing work during the shoot. The filming was completed by the end of the "Market Groseria" project, and the film was released just in time for Halloween. The premiere in front of an audience took place on 25.11.24 at the Theater Kana, as part of the event STOLEC / SĄSIEDZTWO / SOCIAL COMMUNITY ART. took place.
